I love this tool. Its always worked well and I just purchased my second one.

I bought mine years ago. One fact of live that buyers may benefit from is that in life, if something breaks, fix it. Or, even better: note what could break and take measures to prevent it from breaking.... all for the purose of extending the life and usefulness of this incredibly handy machine that has few or no compeitors.

Are the screws loosening? Well then! Take one of those screws down to Home Depot, and buy metal replacements for them that are of the same length and diameter, and uses a nut, washer and lock wash. If you do this, you'll never have loose nuts... again... especially if you tighten them up after use at the end of the season when you use things. All of this will cost you less than 25 cents. Its well worth the bother. Get somebody at HD to help you find the exact size replacement for you.

Also, is that funnel loose and causing problems??? THEN SECURE IT SO THAT IT CANNOT MOVE OR BREAK: buy 4 3" angle irons at Home Depot and use your hammer to bend the right-angle to an angle so that the bent angle iron fits the angel between the funnel and the side of the shredder.

THen attache these bent angle irons to the unit and funnel by drilling holes to match the holes in your angle iron. Use short metal bolts washers, lock washers, and nut. That Funnel will stay in place and give you years of service!

Is something cracked or is there a hole? Be creative and use duct tape to hold it together. REplace the duct tape when necessary, or figure out another fix.

The rule is: if you are buying garden tools of any type, buy tools that will enable you to fix the garden tools.

If you a a clever and thrify Scot like I am, your leaf mucher will probably give you more years than you've got left yourself. At the end of your stay on Earth, find someone who wants the tool, is like minded about fixing things, and hand it down to them.

Stop griping, pull up your boots, and take control of things in you life instead of expecting someone else to do it for you. THen, pass down this marvelous tool to someone who will appreciate it.

I purchased this unit several years ago and it has served me well. The only thing have a problem with is the frame. It keeps falling apart and I struggle to get it to screw on tight enough to keep the tubes together. I keep a screwdriver in the tool compartment so I can repair it when it comes apart. Trying to figure a good workaround. But I would recommend it. It's a workhorse.

The purchase was easy and hassle free. It arrived promptly. It replaced a flowtron mulcher(serial #003284) that I had for around 25 years. I was happy with it so I purchased this one to replace the old one. I noticed that the screw for the spinner(Ref.#33) was not metal like the old one. The first and second time I used it worked well. The third time I used it(yesterday) the spinner came off. The nylon screw(ref. #39) had melted. I try to keep out sticks and other hard objects. The leaves were dry. It has not rained here in October. I do not think I over loaded it with leaves. I had just replaced the 2 cutting lines not long before it broke. The lines were angled down into the exit holes for the leaves. I did not find any foreign objects in it. One theory I have is that there was a lot of resistance from the cutting line catching the exit hole for the leaves?
I was happy with it until it broke. Before it broke I would have recommended it, but now I would not recommended to anybody.

I assembled and tried the product for the first time yesterday. Overall pretty decent shredding. Works much better on very dry product. The black funnel design is very poor. It doesn't connect well or stay in place. Those two little black nubs are not of any value.
