I purchased this unit several years ago and it has served me well. The only thing have a problem with is the frame. It keeps falling apart and I struggle to get it to screw on tight enough to keep the tubes together. I keep a screwdriver in the tool compartment so I can repair it when it comes apart. Trying to figure a good workaround. But I would recommend it. It's a workhorse.
The purchase was easy and hassle free. It arrived promptly. It replaced a flowtron mulcher(serial #003284) that I had for around 25 years. I was happy with it so I purchased this one to replace the old one. I noticed that the screw for the spinner(Ref.#33) was not metal like the old one. The first and second time I used it worked well. The third time I used it(yesterday) the spinner came off. The nylon screw(ref. #39) had melted. I try to keep out sticks and other hard objects. The leaves were dry. It has not rained here in October. I do not think I over loaded it with leaves. I had just replaced the 2 cutting lines not long before it broke. The lines were angled down into the exit holes for the leaves. I did not find any foreign objects in it. One theory I have is that there was a lot of resistance from the cutting line catching the exit hole for the leaves?
I was happy with it until it broke. Before it broke I would have recommended it, but now I would not recommended to anybody.
I assembled and tried the product for the first time yesterday. Overall pretty decent shredding. Works much better on very dry product. The black funnel design is very poor. It doesn't connect well or stay in place. Those two little black nubs are not of any value.
